How can toys support babies aged 0-6 months

In the first months of a baby's life, between 0 and 6 months, sensory development is central. During this crucial period, babies explore the world around them in unique ways, mainly depending on their sensory perception. It is essential for parents and caregivers to choose activities and toys that stimulate their little ones' senses.

A baby's eyesight is beginning to develop, which is why toys with contrasting colours and patterns are ideal. Soft toys with bright colours or a mobile above the cradle with moving, contrasting figures capture baby's attention and promote visual stimulation. Singing soft songs, combined with showing colourful pictures, contributes to auditory development.

Besides visual and auditory stimulation, tactile exploration is also very important. Introducing soft toys with different textures, such as fabric blocks or soft toys with different surfaces, provides a varied tactile experience. Feeling different textures helps baby develop their sense of touch and improves overall body awareness.

Activities aimed at promoting movement and developing muscles are also relevant. Lying on the stomach, under supervision, promotes motor skills and strengthens neck muscles. The use of soft play rugs with different textures encourages rolling and movement.

This early phase is all about creating a stimulating environment in which babies can safely explore and discover. Incorporating diversity in toys and activities provides a wide range of sensory stimuli, which is essential for healthy development. By consciously choosing toys that appeal to the senses, parents lay the foundation for their little one's curious, active exploration of the world.
